20160617_094046I had the pleasure to assist to the JBCNConf 2016 at Barcelona. This conference takes place in an incomparable framework, Barcelona one of the most beautiful cities (after Madrid of course 馃槈 ), and the PF University, a well known university in Spain. It is the first big Java and JVM conference in Spain.

But I did not only assist, I was selected for teaching a workshop about Grails 3 for 2 hours long. Teaching Grails is always very exciting when you can show聽it to someone who聽doesn’t know this wonderful framework, which allows us to improve our productivity. In fact, the workshop was called : “Boost your productivity. Grails yourself!“.

So, I had clear I wanted to show the most concise information for allowing the assists how to create an application from the beginning, using some plugins, in just one session. They dealt with some configurations (app config, datasources), securisation (SSC), working with JSON, or even deploying the app they created at the workshop. Allowing them to discover how many could be done with Grails, compared to pure Java development, using the latest聽Grails functionalites (using the last version)

But is not all about my workshop, of course. On the next two days (workshops were on Thrusday), there were many talks, and, as could not be otherwise, very interesting. After the big and amazing opening, followed by the keynote by Simon Ritter (Deputy CTO of Azul Systems), four tracks were running in parallel mainly about microservices, continuous integration and testing. The quality of all the talks was very high, but to be honest, I lacked some more variety, for example microservices are trend nowadays but other aditional subject would be great. Anyway, great speakers, great organization, best venue and well done talks are more than enough to assist next year at JBCNConf 2017.
